A rejuvenating and tranquil seven night yoga and meditation retreat in the beautiful surrounds of Bellevue Plantation in Barbados. The retreat is led by Taye Hewson, a world-class instructor whose biography is on the second page. Bellevue is the perfect setting for a yoga holiday, enjoying its own, extensive grounds and close proximity to the beach. The retreat includes morning and evening yoga classes, sunrise meditation on the beach and local therapists will be on hand to provide massage, reflexology and much more. All meals are included and designed to complement the retreat’s healthy ethos, with Caribbean-influenced vegetarian and vegan dishes (fish available on request) and fresh cleansing juices. Time outside the yoga and meditation classes is yours to spend as you like – explore the delightful, Caribbean Georgian house with its beautiful verandahs and galleries or venture out for shopping, water-sports and any of the other attractions Barbados has to offer. Bellevue is quite unlike any other Barbados experience – it combines the sweeping grandeur of the past with the amenities of today; a lush, tropical garden, air-conditioned suites with balconies, and a large swimming pool make up just a small fraction of its charms.
Taye has been teaching and studying yoga since 1996. She is a trained Iyengar teacher, as well as in three other traditions. Part of her journey has been in India where she has retreated for 30 days consecutively for many years, prior to becoming a mother in 2004. Taye has also been a student of The Diamond Approach, which is a spiritual work school, for the past 6 years, and is a meditation student in the Vipassana tradition, along with other methods. She has sat silent meditation retreats, including one of 14 days in Europe. She has participated in, and led, many other retreats all of which have helped inform and deepen her practice. Yoga has been a very healing and grounding part of her life and is a substantial element of her spiritual path. Additionally she has a foundation diploma in counselling from Regents College, a post-graduate diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling, and a two year training in Systemic Family Constellations. She brings these elements of her training, personal growth and enquiry to her classes. Yoga has a great capacity to bring one into the moment and cultivate presence. The breath is a great conduit to calm the mind and through this stillness peace and clarity can be revealed. One can get to know oneself very well on the mat!!
“Taye Hewson, heart and soul, is truly inspiring both spiritually in life lessons, and in spiritual and physical intuitive knowing. She is able to connect on a deep level to the needs and vibration of people.” Edward Lamont
